Right now I'm enjoying 'The Last One' documentary about Popcorn Sutton. My wife is from Appalachia and it is bringing back memories.

Sky,

It is so intriguing and comforting to me to learn about your Dad through this site and youtube. It's almost like a religious experience. I was born and raised in Texas, but have always been enthralled with Appalachia. Have one side of the family tree from the region. I know what I need. A wife like Popcorn. Or even a tenth like Popcorn, and I would have it made. Egomaniacs are what have destroyed the world. Your dad epitomized the down-to-earth spirit of yesterday. Sadly, what has taken the place of him, are these self-serving "rednecks" of today.

Much has been made of the government lately. I'll tell you what the government did. It took awat the pure and gentle spirit of Mr. Sutton. God Bless.

Dear Anonymous,

I can delete any of these comments I chose. I chose to post your drivel.
I can only assume that you are a parent who skipped out on paying child support for eight kids. Those are the only people left to pick on me. Oh, that and people who haven't read my book. Everyone knows I've had shit to say about my father. Duh. Come up with something new. Oh, wait, you can't. You blew your wad. Was it good for you, too?

Hi Sky,

My son and his friends just walked in from a party in Morristown, TN and started talking about Popcorn Sutton. Interested in your father's story, and how three young men told their version, I jumped online and found you. I'm anxious to read your book and feel certain your story will vary greatly from the tales these boys told this morning. ;)

Dear Destiny (lovely name!)

I can only imagine what stories they came home with! If you get the time please send them to me. :) I've been getting a real kick from the odd tales that arrive in my email. My favorite is the sighting of his ghost at Dollywood. ;)

Just saw the documentary last night.
Was enthralled with Mr. Popcorn and his comments. Was amazed at the ingenuity that they learned. The old ways are fast disappearing.

So is it to my understanding he has passed on??

@ksblast: Yes, my father committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning on the afternoon of March 16, 2009.

Sky,
If you can make a buck, go ahead. I knew your father, and he was the best moonshine maker in the hills. My ex father-in-law was his mechanic in Hazelwood. Besides, your pop would have wanted you to tell his story, and be honest, that's one thing I liked about him, he told the truth and never tried to hide from anything. Good luck on your sales. And I hope you keep this heritage alive.
